write it out, let it go....

Dear Editor of My Local Small Town Paper,

I have mulled over how to tell this story for a couple of days
and, in the end, have decided there is no way to sugar coat it.
It is best just to jump into the story without any pretenses.

A close relative of mine was visiting another relative at our
local hospital recently. The patient has been in care for an
extended amount of time due to a serious illness. After my
"aunt" finished her visit, she went to pick up some groceries.
To her surpise and utter dismay, she found that her wallet
was missing.

This discovery would obviously be upsetting to any one of us
but on this day, my aunt had cashed a two week paycheque
and that entire amount of money was in the wallet. She
backtracked all the places she had been and did not find it.
Eventually, a staff member of the hospital called her to tell
her they found the wallet.

I wish, at this point, I could brighten all of our days by saying
what a goodwill Christmas-like story this is because all the money
was still in the wallet. But sadly, I can't say that. The wallet
was empty.

I wish, at this point, I could portray to you the kind of woman
my aunt is. She is funny and smart and sharp as a tack.
Like any of us, she has had her ups and downs in life, but
you would never know it when you see her constant smile
or hear her vividly contagious laugh.

I wish, at this point, that I could be forgiving and empathetic
towards the person or people who found the wallet and emptied
it of it's contents. But I can't. What I would like to say to that
person was best said by my husband:
"I hope whatever you buy with the money, you choke on it."

tough talker???

so....
here is where we find out whether or not
mommy really means it when she says
that he will wear the glasses
and he will wear the patch
whether he wants to or not
because its for the good of his eyes
or whether mommy is actually more a
softie
then she would normally like to admit...

he hates the glasses.

not because of the glasses,
but because he can't see with them on
which i wasn't expecting...he says my two fingers
look like four
and four looks like eight...
he can't see the tv no matter where he is at...
i expected this when we put the patch on,
but this is without the patch...
i am thinking about waiting until monday
and then calling to make sure this is the reaction
we should be seeing just in case something is not right
with the prescription....

i am also having second thoughts.

what if we put him through this
only to find out its not only not going to work
but it causes his bad eye to turn inwards
which the doctor said it might...

i love being a parent, but
i hate these kinds of life-changing decisions.

by the way, he is laughing at my hair in both
these pictures. he said he couldn't see it clearly
but even blurrily seen, it was fairly funny.

i. hate. being. sick.

ow.
my throat hurts
which it has for the past two weeks
but in a minimal way...
now suddenly it has amplified itself as
much as to say "look-at-me-look-at-me
WILLYOUEFFINGPAYATTENTIONTOME"

and i had a headache and was nauseaus all day
yesterday with the 4 kids under 3 here allll day...
went to bed at 5 pm, got up at 12, ate some crackers
and back to bed...

one of the "4-under-3" gang
threw up all over the floor
5 minutes before his parents came.

i am sure headache and queasiness was caused
by oncoming period...how did this happen that
as i got older, i lost the horrible cramping part
but i gained a headache from hell and a penchant
for pepto-bismol that lasts for about a week
BEFORE my period...WTH????

oh. and my back just spoke up.
it has decided to kill me today.
