day twelve...daydreams on wheels...

Draw your bike.

hmmmm...
another day of drawing...
this is pushing me outside of my box a bit
because
i don't consider myself able to draw...
i have a few things
i can draw recognizably
but i really struggle with
depth and scale and
trying to get any sort of correct
angle on something...

but i did it and i'm glad...
it was actually fun.

and the ironic thing is
i have a bike...
a hardcore expensive mountain bike
that my husband bought for me
that.
i.
never.
use.

i should.
but i don't...

but the idea of owning a vintage bike
with a basket and a bell...
that makes my heart beat faster.

{plus imagine all the photos opportunities!!}

day eleven...red rules...

100 ideas by keri smith::number nine:
Spend a day drawing only red things.

so...it's pretty self explanatory...
today i drew red things...
as shown above.

tonight we watch the middle and modern family
and share popcorn and eat cookies...
a mid-week couch-potato-
stay-up-a-little-later
and laugh-like-maniacs
kind of night...
which i love.

and something else i love?
there used to be a local band
that played here in town
that had put out a demo one time...
they had a slow song that i absolutely loved
and the other day
i took a chance on facebook
and asked someone i knew remotely
{who used to be in the band}
and he not only remembered which song
it was but he found it and emailed it
to me today...
i played it 26 times in a row
and sang it loud...

my "life makeovers" book is all about
synchronicity and coincidence
and looking for it in my life...
that was pretty coincidental
and i'm glad i acted on my impulse
to ask about the song...

acting on impulses...
this could be a good thing.

day ten...i have made it to double digits...

Find a photo of a person you do not know. Write a brief bio about them.

her name was sue.
her mom called her susie q
and susan alice whitby walker
when she was really mad...
which didn't happen often,
because sue
was a good girl.

she got straight a's.
she kept her room clean.
she ate all of her supper all of the time
even the turnips.
she said she wanted to be a teacher
when she grew up,
just like mrs. malone
who was her current favorite teacher.

but really...
deep down...
way down in the pit of her stomach
where she hid all of her secrets...
she didn't want to be a teacher
and she hated turnip.

she wanted to be a rodeo clown.

the big red shoes,
the happenstance makeup
starting to smear with sweat...
the handmade outfit
complete with clumsy stitches
and a patch on the bum...

rodeo clowns were dangerous.

they were fearless.

they stopped the bull when no one else could,
when the cowboy ran away
it was the rodeo clown that saved him.

day nine...

Expose yourself to a new artist, (go to a gallery, or in a book.) Write about what moves you about it.

i could not leave the house today
because ten was home with a sore belly...
{although not as sore as let on this morning...
it got better awfully quick...}

so i could not go to a gallery...
but i visited one online instead.

{not to mention, galleries are in
very short supply
in my small town...}

so instead,
i cracked a can of diet coke
and settled in at the computer...
put on some music
and visited this studio...
i love everything about this guy's work...
it is whimsical and detailed...
it's dark and imaginative and fun
and interpretative...
it makes me stop and wonder
what he was thinking at the time
and how was that made
and marvel at the emotions
that he can convey...

and it makes me want to get up off my chair,
push myself away from the computer,
go upstairs and make something....
get my hands dirty...
make a mess...
but do something
and stop daydreaming about it...

sidenotes::

my writing down the bones book came in today!!
i haven't even taken it out of the bag yet
because i am a hoarder...
i need to hold onto it
until the right moment...

i pushed myself out of my comfort zone tonight
and went to a training center
to take photos of people training for MMA
{mixed martial arts}...
a girl emailed me and asked if i would be
interested and since this is my year of
saying yes,
i said yes...
and now we are thinking that they will
get me a media pass to try shooting for a
cage match that they will be doing...
and doing some profile shots for them...
i'm excited...and nervous...
but this is a good thing.

day eight...in which i digress

Glue an envelope into your journal. For one week collect items you find on the street.

the envelope is glued into the front of a new
journal started with this idea mission
in mind...
have also started painting the front
of the new journal
(originally a sketch pad)
and have the poem from number 5
glued in...

no photo of the envelope or the cover
because i spent the day taking photos
and by the time
i take more photos of the journal
and upload all the photos on the camera,
the day will be gone.

so instead,
i will tell you how i am feeling about this
idea so far...and the truth is?
i'm loving it.
i really find that i am getting a lot out of it...
it is pushing me in directions i may
not have thought about before...

sidenotes::

i have ordered this book and cannot wait
for it to come in....

i can't wait to see this movie...

or this one...

and although in a lot of her songs,
i have no idea what she is saying,
i love this woman's voice...
