post-a-poem 1 {2012}

April 1.

8:40 pm.

i have thought about this off and on all day.
the first day of my self-imposed post a poem a day challenge...
can i do it...will i do it...
{i need to beleive that i can, that i will...
because there have been so many times i have attempted things like this
and stopped dead short in the middle of a breath.}

so here goes...
attempt number one...

tonight I scatter words
happenstance and willy nilly
like rose petals at a failed wedding...
like mismatched china
and dollar store dishes.
I put the cracked with the fragile and the longstemmed crystal
next to the broken teacup.
I toss the words with wild abandon,
they rain on my shoulders
like snow
melting on my tongue
and turning my heart
cold.

edited to say that i realize now that i was not late...i was actually very early...
considering i posted this on march 31 :O)

pulling it all together for one poetry filled month

serendipity is a funny thing.

for the last 3 years or so
i have attempted some version of
napowrimo...
i have tried to post a poem a day...
last year
i took a step further and made myself a list
of what i wanted to accomplish during the national poetry month of april...

i make no secret
of the fact
that i am enamored by liz elayne...
i read her blog faithfully
and daydream about the day
that i can attend one of her retreats...

the other day
i stopped by her blog
and she spoke about her new online workshop
poem it out.

poems.
in april.
for a month.
{give or take a day or two}.

but
{as always}
i wondered
do i have the money...
checked my card and realized i had way more on there than i thought.

so.
in april i will be poem-ing it out
and attemping to post once a day
while also using some of list from last year...

oh.
this could be fun.
:O)

5 really good things on a monday

happy mail...a new pair of boots...a self magazine...

16 didn't make it through to the next round
but i was pretty damn proud of her...
and i think...
who is that brave pretty girl
with the sass and the attitude...

 french vanilla cappucino
in a tall glass
bought a new smurf while we were away...
no pictures of him yet...
but they'll come soon

a poem by 16 that blew. my. mind.
i'll see if she'll let me share it.

2 hours on the boardwalk

thursday was unbeleivably warm
i went home after work at 3:30
threw on a t shirt and capris
and went for a walk on the boardwalk...

i didn't bring my camera
and once i started walking,
i regretted that decision...
and then i remembered there is a camera
on my phone
(not an i phone but still...a camera)
so i took it out and played with it...
and it was fun...
i ended up being there for over 2 hours
and it
was so incredibly awesomely
warm...

i sat here on one of these rocks
with bare feet
and the sun on my face
and listened to the birds and the water rushing beneath the ice
and
felt
like i
was
melting
into spring.

and i liked it.

joan jett attitude jean shorts fishnets and a pair of pink chucks
