WIP friday...

i have never participated in WIP friday before
but thought i might today
and it actually surprised me
how many things i have on the go right now...
heh.
this is kind of embarrassing...
i keep all of my knitting right here
cluttered on the shelf next to the couch.
heh.

there are four WIP's in the above picture.
one is a buggy-baby-blanket,
one is a pair of ten's jeans in the process of becoming
a skirt,
one is a bookmark for my bestest friend
and two envelopes
waiting to be filled to go to some special blog-like people
above is the start of picture
to be sent to someone else in blogland

the beginning of a baby blanket
in green and yellow
for another best friend
who's having her baby TODAY.
heh.
better put that at the top
of the list.
strawberries and cream blanket
and i think that is the end of my list...
i hope anyway...
a little overwhelming
when i think of all the other things
i still want to do...
heh.
other WIP's found here

*as always, my apologies for the dark pictures...
its thundering and lightning here.

poetry thursday....

He says, She says.

Coming and going
to-ing and fro-ing
off we set
off we jet
off like a herd of turtles

(and as i speak
my father's oddity
comes forth
and i welcome it
with a grin)

the prompt was to use a phrase
that you hear alot or use alot.
this is one that i use at least once a day,
off like a herd of turtles....

the rest of my day is peppered
with "done like dinner" s
"pitterpatter lets get at 'er"s
"hit the road jack"
"ready, freddie?'
and "ready to go, joe?" s

i say its because i work with kids
that i talk like that
but my dad talks like that
so maybe
its hereditary...
heh.

mary mary quite contrary.

how does your garden grow?
tomato plants starting to blossom...
tomato plants...

string beans finally, after having been replanted at least 3 times
the garden from afar.

and so i think my neighbors
may think i am obsessive compulsive over protective
about the garden.

i check on it first thing in the morning,
i keep all the little plants covered so the birds don't pull them out,
so i go out in the afternoon and uncover them
and SIT IN THE LAWNCHAIR TO BABYSIT THEM
while they get some sun
then i cover them back up when i go in the house.
i water the garden every night and tuck back in any that
i have left uncovered...
i'm a sick woman.
sick.

the phonecall the teacher DIDN'T want to make.

so six's teacher called home
last thursday to say six
said he had a headache.

i went and got him.

he ended up being fine...
maybe had a headache but
as he slid down the railing on the way
out of the school
i knew he did not NEED to come home.

so six himself called home
last friday to say that he didn't feel good
and needed to come home.
i asked him if he was sure he was really that sick,
sick enough to come home
because if he did
he would have to lay on the couch for the rest
of the day and we would not be able to go
to the old fashioned carnival that night
like we had planned...

six started crying on the phone.

and in a heartbreaking sobbing voice
said "may-may-be its ju-ju-just that my
underwear are t-t-too small"

heh.

so.

i brought him over a bigger pair of underwear
and he stayed happily for the rest of the day.

and we went to the old fashioned carnival.

oh...and when i told the teacher that he seemed to
think that was the problem, she said, a little sheepishly,
"i know...he told the duty teacher that outside and
thats why i let him phone you, instead of me"

hee.

baby showers....

today we had a very belated baby shower/bbq for my brother and his wife
and the new addition to their family, logan.

i made him some pictures to put on his wall...

they have a blue and yellow star and moon theme in his room...
which i tried to stick to
but i couldn't resist trying some frogs...
even if they do look a little like green teddy bears...
heh.

sorry for the dark pictures,
i was trying to sneak them while the presents
were hiding in the bedroom
:)

hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!
