a sunset drive and loud music
is all
you really need….
it fills in all the cracks in your heart
and stops the chatter in your head…
friday adventure on a saturday...
i haven’t been able to get out on as many
friday adventures
as sometimes i do have to work
and sometimes,
19 needs the car
because
he has to work…
but adventures can happen on a saturday, too…
(and maybe even on a random sunday…as crazy as that sounds!)
heehee
last saturday was sunny
but so much colder than i was expecting…
but i did get out for a bit with the camera
(and very cold hands…)
there is something about
early morning light
and blocks of earthy color against a blue sky…
rolling clouds, broken barns, loud music,
and knowing you have
absolutely
nowhere to be
that just makes me
incredibly happy.
oh…and i know that everyone here
is excited for burger love
(and so they should be…such a great event!)
but…also…
THE DAIRY BARS ARE OPENING!!!!!!
heeheehee.
i apologize in advance for the
barrage of ice cream photos to come…
i can’t help it.
you still like me though, right?
wordless wednesday...
a winter friday adventure...(you know the drill...there will be many pictures)
i don't normally do winter friday adventures
because
let's face it...
i'm a bit of a cold weather pansy.
but it was mild on friday...
like bizarrely unusually mild.
i should have gone to the gym
and caught up on laundry
and cleaned the house
but instead
i put on my turkey socks and purple docs
grabbed my camera
and went for a drive.
i ended up in cavendish...at the beach...
which is weird
because i rarely go to that beach
in the summer
but there i was...in the middle of winter...
and i had a small panic attack
as i walked out onto one of the floating bridges
and then thought
what if you are not supposed to be on these in the winter
and i can't swim in warm water
so i am surely to gawd going to drown in freezing cold water
but then thought
they would
probably
put up a sign or something....
so then i calmed down
and enjoyed myself again...had the whole place to myself...
until i started wondering if coyotes hibernate.
sigh.
it's exhausting living in my head.
but...here are some photos that i took
before my heart started skipping a beat
thinking coyotes could be lurking
in a pack
just
around that corner.
and then i went to charlottetown
because honestly
i got lost and sidetracked and at one point
thought i was driving
back to summerside
but i was actually driving in the opposite direction
and ended up in charlottetown
so i turned a negative into a positive
and went to Micheal's! and i had a gift card! with me!
i bought this jane davenport book on drawing/painting
that i have been drooling over forever
and my very first set of koi watercolors...
AND i got the CUTEST polka dot dress at old navy for 15 dollars.
ok...yes...i know.
one can possibly own too many polka dot dresses...
but...
i'm not there yet, right?
all in all...it was a very good friday adventure...even if it was stupid winter... :)
friday adventures {part one - old rainbow valley}
a couple of weeks ago
i got up and nabbed the car
before my 17 year old son
was even rubbing the sleep
out of his eyes
(it's about the only way i get the car now)
i packed it with my camera,
my phone and bullet journals,
my pencil case,
a can of diet coke and a can of bug spray
and a bag of swedish berries.
i ended up at the old rainbow valley site
in cavendish...
now called cavendish grove
but in my heart
it will always be "where rainbow valley used to be"...
the last time i was there
the trails were just babies...
not developed at all...
i wouldn't even call them a trail,
i would have called them a path...
and a small overgrown path at that.
but now...
now there are real trails.
i did a fairly short one
(um...because partway through the 17 year old
woke up and started texting wondering
when the car would be back...haha)
i am in love with these trails.
you can get right down to cavendish beach!
which, to someone as spatially challenged as me
seemed like complete and utter MAGIC
because i cannot put the beach in relation to
old rainbow valley and in my head
i can't make sense of how i WALKED there...and so fast.
don't try to explain to me...
i prefer to believe the trail are magic.
i came across a little building
that looked like it might have been a church
or related to a church at one time...
and dunes & flowers that are probably really weeds
but still so pretty...
there is a little forest of tall, tall trees...
there was an explanation of what the trees were
but i didn't take a photo of it
and now i forget...
but i was glad i followed the path
into this little clearing...
i can't explain why
but it just felt so quiet and peaceful
and the light was so pretty...
and i could not capture it with my camera,
not the way it felt to me.
i am definitely planning to come back here
when i have more time
(and have fortified myself with something
more than swedish berries & diet coke)
to do the longer trail.
i am pretty sure it said 8.5 kms for that one.
when i left here,
i had full intentions of going straight home
but ended up in north rustico
but that's a post for another day...
even you even made it to the end of this long post!
:) :) :)
TO BE CONTINUED...
